We had a really great teacher here on campus, and today when we got to class, we were told that our teacher got fired because she did this catering thing over break and our center director cleared her but didn't clear it with his bosses. So when it came down to it, it was his word against hers and he fired her to save himself because he didn't do his job. We need help? Does anyone have Dr. Francis Cole email address? If so please help me out?
I don't have Dr. Francis Cole's email address so I can't help you there. Unfortunately your teacher probably had a contract that forbid her from doing side jobs, or else she wouldn't be in this mess. She just learned something too, get things in writing to protect yourself. Unfortunately things like this aren't always fair, and sometimes they seem down right mean. About all's you can do is protest through the proper channels, and in a respectful manner. Do not jeopardize your education over a lost teacher, because weather you know it or not you both just learned a very good lesson with this incident. Business is full of contracts, rules of conduct, and regulations. Sometimes in order to have a job we need to comply with reasonable demands, and a business has a right to protect their business from employees freelancing and undercutting them, especially if she got that lead through your school, which is what I expect happened otherwise there wouldn't be any problem most likely. Now you can be a flag bearer for your cause, or be professional about it. It sounds like you are trying to immediately go over the head of the person that dismissed your teacher. This is another lesson you must learn " Chain of Command" every job has one. You are in an educational setting so instead of a Sous Chef or Floor Supervisor you may have a Student Advocate Office, or Dean of Students which you can file a complaint/objection through. I suggest you do not be negative or confrontational about the situation, rather be positive about your teachers value to the school and you. I'm sure that many students feel the same way you do, ask them to do the same, but above all ask them to be respectful, don't start a revolt, that will cause more problems and will result in a negative outcome.
