Just wanted to take a quick survey and see what brands of hot dogs everyone is using in their snack bar operations. I am of the all animal, all parts school...
I am a fan of Best's Kosher 4:1, however I have heard they are no longer in business. GFS sells an all-beef Angus dog that's pretty good. Our club has a large percentage of Jewish members, so I try to stick to all beef or kosher as mush as possible. Can't go wrong with the Hebrew Nationals. Philip, I had never thought of using the Jamacian relish - that sounds delicious!
Thanks guys...i am looking at about 5 different 4:1's. Problem with my original choice was it had some pump and filler and as soon as you split and grilled it it shrunk to nothing! But man it was some good lips and hooves.
I use Eisenberg 5/1 made for the roller grill and I go thru on a good day 50 plus, plus I use Polish sausage and Bratwurst on the roller grill. Takes away from the menu, but when you want to keep the rate of play going best thing for us.
We're using Kahn's 6:1 dogs here. Kosher, great flavor, hold up very well to cooking and holding. We pay $34 for a case of 72 ea. At .47 ea we have a great profit margin at $2.50 and still keep the price reasonable.
